Neener Neener Neener

I just read an article that indicated that OpenSource developers make between 30 and 40 percent more money than non-OpenSource developers. I myself am a huge fan of OpenSource, given that it is part of my world as a Java developer. Besides, you can find some pretty darn slick OpenSource software out there from Linux for OS to Struts2, and Spring for Web development, to the Geronimo app server and the Apache Web server. So much cool stuff for "free"! UP YOURS, MICROSOFT!

That is, if you even get paid for your open source development (I wonder if the statistics take that into account?).

I think they were talking about developers writing programs using open-source frameworks, rather than developing the actual open-source frameworks themselves.

Ah, upon closer reading - you're right. I just always associate "open-source developers" with people actually writing open source.

OTOH, doesn't this make people using Microsoft's .NET open-source developers, too (http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/10/03/releasing-the-source-code-for-the-net-framework-libraries.aspx)?

;p
